Kicking Covid-19 out of East Africa campaign
The Zino Prince Foundation conducted a targeted awareness campaign aimed at improving community mobilization and increasing awareness about the benefits of COVID-19 vaccines and preventive measures. The campaign took place throughout Kigoma, with a significant focus on the Kalya area in the Uvinza District of Kigoma. The primary goal was to educate and empower the community, especially young individuals, to combat the spread of COVID-19 and promote vaccination uptake.

Community Mobilization: Through targeted outreach efforts, the campaign fostered community mobilization, encouraging active participation in preventive measures. By involving local youth and community leaders, the project promoted a sense of ownership and responsibility in combating the pandemic.
Behavioural Change: The project played a vital role in influencing behavioural change within the community. Participants reported adopting recommended preventive measures such as mask-wearing, hand hygiene, and adherence to social distancing guidelines. Moreover, there was a noticeable increase in vaccine acceptance and uptake following the campaign.
Local Impact: By focusing on the Kalya area in the Uvinza District, the campaign had a localized impact, reaching vulnerable populations and underserved communities. This targeted approach ensured that resources were effectively utilized to maximize impact where it was most needed.
Future Recommendations
- Continue ongoing community engagement and education efforts to sustain behavioural change and promote long-term adherence to preventive measures.
- Expand the scope of the campaign to reach additional communities and address emerging challenges related to COVID-19.
